Hello,
I am using Indesign to create a document in 3 languages.
We are using one layer for each language and a forth for images.
When I export to pdf from Indesign the 4 layers are created but for one major problem.
In 2 out of the 3 layers all the text in the tables becomes like an image and it is no longer possible to select a text or search for the words in the tables.
Does anyone know if there is any special setting in Indesign (CS2) or in Acrobat to avoid this problem.
In the attached example the table is as text in layer FR but as an image in layers EN %26amp; FR
Best regards

Text tables converted into ''images''...Does this happen with all export settings? Your file looks fine.
Text tables converted into ''images''...In Acrobat Pro 7, I see type in your table on all three language layers. I'm calling it type because I can select it with the Touchup Text Tool. Looks great. What makes you think the FR layer is not type?
Ken
I've seen this happen where a bevel and emboss or such like effect is applied to the text frame. The text gets rasterised.
Hello,
Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I have seen that the text can selected using the Touchup Text Tool
but it is not consieder as text when using the normal text selection tool
or if you use the search tools.
If I export the pdf as text these ''texts'' will not be included.
I would really appriciate if you can help me to keep the text in Indesig
as text also in the pdf
Best regards
Johan

InDesign Text tables converted into ''images'' when creating layered pdf

I have tried several settings, probably not all as I have not yet found the correct one
Hi again,
The FR layer is ok, the problem is in the ES %26amp; EN layers.
Best regards
Johan
I see what you mean. It will only show the bottom text layer of table as text.
Unfortunately, I don't see a way around this, although I only played with it for 30 minutes. Behaves the same way in CS4.
Ken
Perhaps the ugly answer is to reorder the layers at the time they are turned off or on for printing.
