Hi!
I work with RH8HTML (8.0.0.203), Windows Vista Business SP2 and IE 7.0.6002.18005.
I've created some topics which include the term XML. When I create the HTML-Help, then search for the term XML, I am shown a message that says Help cannot search for that term. But when I create Web-Help, Help can search for it!
I have checked the Stoplist and the List of ignored words, but XML is not listed.
Does anybody have an explanation for this strange behaviour?
Thanks for helping a help author!
Kind regards,
Kurt
Can't search for the term 'XML' in...Hi Kurt,
Has the project (or the topic containing the XML keyword) been set with a different language? My thinking is that if it has, it would use a different .stp file than the one you checked.

Can't search for the term 'XML' in...Hi Colum
Thanks for your swift answer.
Indeed, I found 2 different stp-Files: one of them is in the folder de_CH (which means Swiss German), the other one de_DE (which means German German). But ... what do I do now? Can I merge those stp-files, or ... have you got a better idea? Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Kurt
You want a better idea?before I've had my second cup of coffee? LOL! To be honest I hadn't got past the idea that there could be two or more STP files. I guess I'd ask whether the XML term is required in the second STP file. Merging the two would only reduce what is searchable.

Good morning, Colum
How many cups of coffee have you had this morning? ;-)
I have just checked the different stp-files of that project, but none contains the keyword XML. Now I'm a bit confused ... how about you?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Kurt
No coffee so far today but if I get more queries like this, that might change . I have to admit to also being a bit stumped. This could be a bug and would be worth reporting as such. Click on this link to do so.

I tested this and also found WebHelp is OK. With the CHM, after entering XML I got one of those annoying messages that flash up so fast you cannot read them, however I am pretty sure it was not the same message and then the search did return the required results.
I am inclined to the view this is a bug in the Microsoft compiler but suggest you report it to Adobe. They will investigate and report it to Microsoft, although given the age of the compiler, I somehow doubt they will do anything.
It might be worth some Googling.

In dealing with another thread, I checked this problem in FlashHelp. That reported the word could not be found even though it is in one of the topics.
Maybe you should report it to Adobe.

Hi all
I just tested this in RoboHelp 8 and it was fine on my own system. The message Peter saw seems to be the typical ''Click cancel to stop the search.'' I attempted to capture it on my own PC but it flashes by so quickly that it eludes me.
Cheers... Rick

1] Yes it probably was that message as I did pick up the word Cancel.
2] When you say you cannot recreate it, in a CHM as per the original question and / or in FlashHelp?

Hi there
I only tested .CHM.
I just tested in FlashHelp output and XML was found just fine.
Cheers... Rick

That does it! I just tested again in FlashHelp and the search worked this time. I am now officially in a huff.

Dear Colum, Peter and Rick,
Thanks a lot for your help; I reported this bug (or whatever it is) to Adobe via the link that Colum provided. Now, it's all in their hands, I guess ... and if I get any news, I will of course report here.
Byebye for now,
Kurt.
